In een poging om de opdoemende ramp aan de economie van de V.S. te vermijden die door een instorting in het gebied wordt bedreigd van de huishypotheek, staan de V.S. de tarieven van de huishypotheek te bevriezen op het punt, hopend zal dit een verwoestende economische instorting verhinderen.

De V.S. hebben de Veiligheidsraad van de Verenigde Naties Gevraagd om door resolutie Annapolis van deze week te onderschrijven begrijpend tussen Israël en de Palestijnen om een vredesregeling tegen eind 2008 te bereiken.
