Fatah terrorists planned to assassinate Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on his way to Jericho for an August 6 meeting with PA Chairman and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).
The Shabak (General Security Service) released the information Sunday. Israeli intelligence provided the PA with information on the planned assassination. The PA arrested the terrorists, members of Fatah. Some days later, however, the men were released - causing furor in government circles. However, a few weeks later, two of the five plotters were nabbed at an Israeli checkpoint, after they had been released from jail by Abbas.

Investigative journalist Yoav Yitzchak reports that the ongoing investigation against Prime Minister Olmert in the Bank Leumi Affair is yielding damning evidence of crimes punishable by active jail time. The report contradicts recent assertions by PM Olmert’s associates that he is unlikely to be charged with crimes.
Yitzchak, Israel’s most prominent investigative journalist, says police investigators have unearthed evidence implicating Olmert not only in fraud, as was originally publicized, but also “fraud in aggravated circumstances,” which carries an additional two year jail sentence.

The security forces thwarted seven suicide bombings in Israel in the last month-and-a-half, Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin told the cabinet Sunday October 7. DF intelligence chief Amos Yadlin told the cabinet that there was an irreconcilable gap between Abbas’ desire to lead a substantial process in the Annapolis peace conference, and his ability to implement it on the ground. On Wednesday October 3, the last day of the Sukkot festival, a 34-person delegation from West Papua presented a large amount of gold to be used in the building of the Holy Temple. The delegation explained that they study the Bible regularly and recently came upon a verse in Zechariah (6:16) reading
“And the distant ones will come and build the Temple of G-d.”
They discussed the passage among themselves and decided that their faith obligates them to fulfill the verse. (Note: Zechariah 6-12 states that THE BRANCH shall build the Temple, an obvious reference to the Lord Jesus)
