La prophétie d'Obadiah annonce le moment où l'Israel souverain sera augmenté pour inclure les terres maintenant fondamentalement dans les mains des Palestiniens (appelés Edom et Esau dans Obadiah). Cinq secteurs seront incorporés à l'Israel proprement dit [Oba 1:19 - 20] - Gaza (Philistia dans Obadiah), royaume de la Jordanie du nord (Gilead), et la Jordanie du sud (montagnes d'Esau), la Cisjordanie (Ephraim et Samaria) et le Liban du sud (nord à Zarephath).

Ceci représente une future restauration des terres données par God à douze tribus de l'Israel, « vous demeurera dans la terre que j'ai donnée à vos pères ». (Ezekiel 36:28) Le dispositif d'A d'Obadiah est que, c'est l'Israel lui-même qui récupère ces secteurs des Palestiniens sans aide évidente de Dieu (* voir la note à l'extrémité) là n'est aucun doute que le rétablissement par l'Israel de ces secteurs impliquera de bombarder, shellings, fusées, réservoirs et métier par les troupes moulues israéliennes, sur une échelle bien plus grande que nous avons juste été témoin au Liban du sud.

En outre, le rétablissement israélien de ces terres aura besoin de l'intention de l'Israel de métier PERMANENT. C'est la différence cruciale entre cette opération et ce qui a été le hithertoo de l'approche de l'Israel.

Il n'est guère douteux que l'armée libanaise et les paix-gardes de l'ONU ne pourront pas supprimer Hizb' Allah et incapable d'empêcher un autre faites la guerre au Liban. Si l'Israel doit à plusieurs reprises envahir le Liban du sud pour empêcher des attaques de fusée et de frontière sur son sol, pensez-vous un jour où elle décidera de rester au Liban du sud ? Naturellement. La fois prochaine ? Et quand elle décide que cette fois nous entrerons et resterons, la première partie de Obadiah 1:20 will come to fruition.

And what about Gaza? How many times have Israeli forces been into Gaza in attempts to stop rocket attacks on south Israel? Sooner or later they will decide to stay!

Can you imagine the world’s hysterical reaction to such moves? The ravings in the UN will be awesome. The BBC will be enormously offended.
The Arabs thunderous rhetoric will be devastating. The Moslem world will apply yet more sanction.

Obadiah nominates five pieces of land to be attached to Israel. Do you think Israel could do it all at once? North, south, east and west? Not likely. Can you imagine the building crescendo of condemnations, accusations, inflammatory declarations. rantings, as Israel proceeds, step by step, to fulfil Obadiah’s prophecy.

The suggestion is that the UN will do nothing, as usual, but eventually will be forced to act against Israel. Two more prophecies now come into play. One is Isaiah 63, “I looked and there was none to help:” Israel is on its own and Zechariah 14:2-3, “I will gather all nations to the battle against Jerusalem….then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations”. Perhaps the UN may send a representative force of many nations, against Israel.

The eventual result is that the visible power of God is employed on Israel’s behalf and Jerusalem is established as an appropriate site for the centre of Jesus rule.

(* Notice that Isaiah 63 does describe God’s visible power in a final dealing with Edom and Bosrah, presumably due to Israel’s inability to complete the removal of the Palestinians. Obadiah’s list does not include Bashan, Reuben’s old land, now the Golan Hts claimed by Syria and not by the Palestinians. Bashan is apparently recovered in a separate action)
